Missouri's Keys To The Game

1.  Beware the 3-4 defense

Now granted Nebraska scored more than 70 points against the Wildcats last week, but the 3-4 defense can still cause problems for a spread offense. In fact,I believe the 3-4 defense is the key to consistently keep the spread contained.  With the 3-4, you have the benefit of having an extra linebacker that can either rush the passer or drop back in pass coverage. Add a nickelback in there and a defense is in good position. the one downside is that offenses can counter this by running screens behind their big line.

2.  Pressure Freeman

Wildcat quarterback Josh Freeman has put together a solid sophomore season with 2,841 passing yards and 10 touchdowns. He's been held to under 200 yards passing only once this season and ironically that was against Texas in the Wildcats biggest win of the season. The Tigers defense needs to pressure Freeman again, and again, and again. He has thrown 10 picks this season and the pressure might allow the Tigers get some important turnovers on the road.

3.  Don't Get Caught in A Full Nelson

K-State wide receiver Jordy Nelson has had an outstanding season catching the ball. He's racked up 1,347 yards receiving and 9 touchdowns. The next closest receiver doesn't even have half the yards, so you know that's the receiver Freeman will be looking for all day. Then again it's one thing knowing who to stop, it's another thing to actually stop him. The Missouri defense will have to get him under control.

PREDICTION - Missouri 41, Kansas State 21

Just like Nebraska last week, Kansas state will be feeling like they have something to prove after suffering an embarrassing loss on the road. Unfortunately this Missouri team is one that is thinking ahead to next week's game against Kansas. The Tigers have seemed calm and focused all year long and don't expect to anything different at Snyder Family Stadium on Saturday. Mizzou should get their first win in Manhattan since 1989 and will set up the Big 12 North showdown next week at Arrowhead Stadium.
