From NASCAR to MLB spring training to
college football bowl games to the Masters, Darin has covered those events and
more during his sportcasting career.
Darin started Ol' Missouri in early 2007
in order to better serve Missouri football fans not only in the state, but anywhere
around the world. Prior to founding Ol' Missouri, he spent two and a
half years as the weekend sports anchor at WAGT-TV in Augusta, Ga. During
his stint in Georgia, Darin covered the Masters golf tournament and even had the
chance to play Augusta National Golf Club twice. He also covered SEC
and ACC football, including the Georgia-Florida contest in Jacksonville, the
2006 ACC
Championship game, and the Sugar Bowl.
Prior to working in Georgia,
Darin spent
seven months at KRCG-TV in Jefferson City where he was a sports
reporter. He also worked as a sports reporter at WNCF-TV in Montgomery, Al., and
worked in several capacities at KOMU-TV in Columbia, including assisting with This Week In Mizzou Football in 2001.
Darin is a native of St. Louis
and grew up following the Cardinals, Blues and eventually the Rams (they moved
to town in 1995). In the fall of 1997, he began attending the University of
Missouri and soon after joined the Tiger football team as a student assistant.
In 1998, he received a bowl ring when Mizzou defeated West Virginia in the
Insight.com Bowl. Darin also worked Missouri's annual summer football
camps and assisted the current MU coaching staff during their high school
passing camp in 2002.
Darin earned his Bachelor of Journalism degree from MU in 2001.
During Darin's brief broadcasting career, he's had an opportunity to
interview
several well-known figures. Some of those names include Jack Buck, Jack Nicklaus, Cal Ripken,
Jesse Jackson, Bart Starr, Gene Stallings and Bob Uecker. By far the most
memorable event Darin has covered occurred on September 17, 2001. It was the
first St. Louis Cardinals game after September 11 and the late Jack Buck read an
emotion-filled poem to the crowd at Busch Stadium and across the country on
ESPN. While most watched from the stands or on TV, Darin took in the speech only
feet away on the field.
